Play Suspended On Outside Courts Due To Rain At Wimbledon

Rain continues to be a factor on the opening day’s play at Wimbledon, where play was suspended at 2:53 p.m. local time on Monday. It is the second interruption of the day at the grass-court Grand Slam in London, following an earlier delay of one hour, 29 minutes.

The latest interruption came with British No. 1 Cameron Norrie just two points from a first-round victory on Court 2, where he leads Pablo Andujar 6-0, 7-6(3), 5-3, at 40/40 on the Norrie serve. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is also in a strong position to upset Halle champion Hubert Hurkacz. The Spaniard leads the seventh seed 7-6(4), 6-4, 5-5, with Davidovich Fokina serving at 15/15. On Court 12, third seed Casper Ruud clinched a pair of tie-breaks to lead Albert Ramos-Vinolas 7-6(1), 7-6(9) before the weather intervened.

Centre Court and Court 1 at the All England Lawn Tennis Club are both fitted with a roof, meaning their schedules will continue as planned regardless of the weather. Top seed Novak Djokovic is currently taking on Soonwoo Kwon on Centre Court, with two-time champion Andy Murray in action later on against James Duckworth. On Court 1, Carlos Alcaraz is in action against Jan-Lennard Struff.
