PARIS (AFP): Rafael Nadal said on Sunday (Nov 1) that he "is not worried" about his history of injury withdrawals at the Paris Masters ahead of his latest bid to win the event for the first time, just three weeks after his 13th French Open title.
This will only be Nadal's eighth appearance in the tournament at Bercy Arena, situated less than 14km across Paris from Roland Garros, and he has reached the final just once.

Telefónica pacts with Rafael Nadal the extension during five more years of the agreement sponsorship which has united both parties since 2014. In this way, the athlete will continue to be an ambassador for the telecommunications operator’s brand throughout the world, after completing several weeks of negotiations with an agreement.
The previous contract expired in the middle of this year 2020. Rafa Nadal is keeping a very close eye on the expansion works at the Rafa Nadal Academy By Movistar in Manacor.
Before traveling to France to compete in the Masters 1000 in the Paris neighbourhood of Bercy, Rafa was closely monitoring the construction of the new covered pavilion, which will have 3 new fast-paced indoor courts and 7 semi-covered clay courts.
He also evaluated the progression of the new spaces for physical preparation, physiotherapy, psychology, nutrition and sports medicine which will be housed in the extension.

INTERVIEW: Rafael Nadal: "I would like to be remembered as a good person"
You're over 30, very fashionable. You won Roland Garros, James LeBron returns to the top of the NBA, Lewis Hamilton is equal to Michael Schumacher, Robert Lewandowski wins everything with Bayern. Is there life after 30?
- I think this is a matter of fashion, and now these trends have changed. Before, when you turned 29, you were already old and you had to retire. But over the past decade, several athletes have emerged who have successfully extended their careers and opened the eyes of others. We all believe there is life after 30, and if you do it right, you can continue to compete at that age. In addition, there are more tools and experiences for preventing and treating injury.
In any case, each of us has a very personal theme, and it's that you love it, that you are passionate about it, that you love what you do, that you feel what you do. Without this feeling, love, for the sport you are involved in, for your profession, although for me it is not a profession, it is impossible to extend your career, and even more so if you have been successful for many years.
In other words, there is still a long way to go.
- I can't guess when I'm going to retire, no, no. Who knows what will happen in a year. You cannot program the future. I do not know what life will bring us, something may happen that will dispel my illusions about what I am doing. I hope this does not happen. Of course, to this day, I think this is unlikely, but you always need to be prepared, because everything changes very quickly.
I, of course, am not afraid of this day and therefore do not think about it. Yes, I understand that when this day comes, I will feel it, I will know it, I will understand. Perhaps I will no longer feel the passion that drives me to workout every morning. I will stop feeling the goals of continuous improvement that are necessary to remain competitive. Time goes by ... when this happens, it will be time to say that I am leaving and starting to do the same or more important things than tennis, of course.
