Biggest movers: Kyrgios returns to top 20

Nick Kyrgios has shot up to No.18 after reaching the Cincinnati final while Ash Barty nears the top 40 after her continued success during the US Open Series.

Nick Kyrgios has shot back into the top 20 thanks to his run to the final at last week’s Cincinnati Masters.

The 22-year-old jumped five spots to No.18, and heads back in the direction of his career-high ranking of 13th, achieved in last 2016.

Thompson, a year older at 23, also rise five spots; the New South Welshman advanced to the final of the Vancouver Challenger at the weekend.

Another Aussie young gun, Ash Barty, rose six places to a career-high ranking of No.42 after reaching the third round in Cincinnati.

In her past two events in Toronto and Cincinnati, Barty has qualified for the main draw and advanced to the last 16 at both, notching eight wins in her past 10 outings.

Barty also leapfrogs Sam Stosur to become the new Aussie No.2; Daria Gavrilova, at world No.26, in the nation’s No.1 female.

There was movement further down in the Aussie top 10, with Isabelle Wallace joining the bracket after a significant jump in the latest rankings list.

Wallace improved her standing 59 place to 289th, after her recent victory at the ITF $25,000 tournament in Koksijde, Belgium was factored into her ranking.

Wallace is now the Australian No.9, one place above Priscilla Hon, who rose 42 spots to No.312 after advancing to the quarterfinals of the $100,000 ITF event in Vancouver.

Wallace and Hon are both at career-high rankings.

Sara Tomic also mad a big jump, rising 86 place to world No.574 thanks to her recent ITF tournament victory in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

On the men’s side, John-Patrick Smith verges on a top-200 return, rising 16 places to 202nd after qualifying for the main draw in Cincinnati last week.

Max Purcell improved 17 spots; the 19-year-old in now ranked 325th after reaching the Vancouver Challenger second round as a qualifier.
